All the Funny Horses

Hudson and I went for a walk this morning, and he kept giggling at the horses. I couldn't quite get the giggle on video, but you can see that he likes them! Excuse the extreme close-up - he's in my carrier.

Laughing, laughing, laughing

Getting Hudson to laugh has to be one of my favorite things. It makes me smile and laugh everytime that I get such a big reaction from him.

(video attached - some folks said they didn't realize there was a video on the last email. If for some reason, you can't see it in the email just go to www.hudsonsadventures.com to see it. Sometimes it just doesn't want to email out the way I want it to. - Kirk)

Teaching the Essentials

One of the key responsibilities of being a parent is making sure your child is well prepared for the future. I've tried to make sure that I started Hudson down that path this summer while being Mr. Mom. This is one of the skills that I know he will be able to put to good use later in life, and we entertained ourselves this afternoon learning it. :)

TRUMAN'S Adventure

Hudson is home asleep, so Truman and I came to see Music Man at Zilker
Park. And as you can see, we aren't the only ones! Gotta run! It's
starting soon!!

Hudson in Montauk

We met the nicest photographer in Montauk who took some great pictures of Hudson. He doesn't generally do baby photography too much, but he and Hudson bonded. His website is www.kevintachman.com if you want to see more.

Look at me! I'm sitting up!!

It only lasts for a few seconds before he tips over, but it's a start!

Morning Playgroup

Gracie is gradually getting more used to having Hudson around. This
morning Hudson was rolling around on the bed and reached over to give
her fur a tug. Gracie remained calm, but she may have just been too
tired to care. :)

June Calendar

June Calendar

Sorry for the delay, but here is the June calendar pic. Hudson is still growing like a weed, finally has started growing hair (now has more than Daddy), and is looking more like a little boy rather than a baby everyday.

You're supposed to be sleeping!

Response: ha ha ha!

We had a great time in Montauk! Lots of great beach time and great meals with friends (frogmore stew, sonoma pasta, fajitas and a big 4th potluck). We are at the airport, and Hudson is not exactly interested in napping today. In fact, he is laughing about it! Hope this doesn't bode badly for the flight!

Happy 4th of July!

Hudson loves the beach, except when he grabbed a handful of sand and put it in his mouth just after this was taken. :)

Lunch in East Hampton

We were waiting for Brad to arrive and decided to take a few pics. So fun!

Good morning!

We went for a walk on the beach early this morning, and Hudson sat in
the sling carrier, stared at the ocean and sucked his thumb in earnest. Now we are back home for a little nap, only somebody enjoys smiling more than sleeping. :)

Breakfast at the Ditch Witch

Coffee and breakfast are served from a trailer called The Ditch Witch in the parking lot of the East Deck Motel looking out at the ocean. Great coffee, bagels, egg sandwiches, etc. and a fantastic picnic table to watch the surfers.

We are in the Hamptons with my friend Brad, who I have known since I was 19, as well as several other friends. Just like any old friends, we spend our fair share of time reminscing. And last night, we talked about this.

It was early morning after delivering Hudson, and my room was quiet. Brad called, and I had been up all night, so i was a little punchy. I got so tickled at the notion that this precious little thing was mine, and he was staring at me like I should know what to do with him.

To prove it, I took this picture.

Some things haven't changed. I'm still often a little tired and punchy. And I still sometimes can't believe Hudson is mine. But I'm so very glad he is.
